Take the final Danish 3 Exam (PD3) with A2B
Do you need to pass the final Danish language test “Danish Exam 3” (PD3) - perhaps as part of a plan to apply for citizenship? And do you just want to take the exam without attending Danish classes?
You can register here as a self-study student for the final exam of The Official Danish Language Course 3 (end of the 5th module of The Official Danish Language Course 3) at A2B's language centers.
During the exam, you will be tested on both an oral and a written part, and at the Danish language test level 3, you will be assessed these areas:
- Reading comprehension, where reading the texts presupposes a certain knowledge of Danish society.
- Written expression, where one is expected to be able to answer questions, describe and narrate, including suggesting, explaining, and commenting.
- Oral communication, which includes listening comprehension, where one is expected to be able to answer questions, describe and narrate, including suggesting, explaining, and commenting.
Before the test, you will receive further information from the language center where you are registered regarding how the test will be conducted and when you must arrive.
The final PD3 exam takes place twice a year, in May/June and November/December. The examinations are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Danish examination system, and you will receive a grade on the seven-step scale.
The fee is payable upon registration.
The Danish Language Course 3 (Danskuddannelse 3) is designed for students who typically have a medium to long educational background from their home country.
Tips
Prepare yourself for the Danish 3 exam
Here are some key tips that can enhance your chances of successfully passing the Danish 1 Examination.
To prepare for the exam, the most important thing is to know the different tests you must go through. You can read about the exam in the Ministrys official document about Danish 3 Exam here.
Most importantly the exam consists of two parts:
- The written part takes place on the date you find on this page, when you have started registering, and have chosen a language center. There are two tests:
- Reading comprehension - it takes 1 hour 30 minutes
- Written presentation - it takes 2 hours 30 minutes
- The Oral part takes place after the written tests, the language center will send you the exact date for your test::
- Oral communication exam, which includes listening comprehension. - it takes 15 minutes

Practical information about the Danish 3 Exam
Bring photo ID
To participate in the final Danish language test 3, you must bring valid identification with a photo. It is therefore important that you know the requirements for identification.

Guidelines for use of computer
Note that you can write the answer to the final Danish Exam 3 test by hand - bring your own pen, pencil, etc., A2B supplies paper.
If you want to use your own computer, it is allowed. Below you will find the requirements we have for computer usage
- Before the start of the test, A2B will check the computer to ensure that there is no internet access.
- We provide a USB stick with a template in which the answer must be entered.Remember, it is your own responsibility to continuously save your answer during the exam, including making backups and copies, for example, on the computer itself. A2B recommends that upon arrival at the exam room, you test that the provided USB stick functions as intended. In case of errors during the exam related to saving on the USB stick, A2B will provide another USB stick.
- At the end of the test, you must save your test answer on the USB stick, and hand it over to A2B which prints it.
- A2B does not offer technical assistance and has no responsibility for whether technical challenges arise with the equipment brought.
- A2B does NOT provide a computer.
Complaints
You can file complaints about both the written and oral tests. The complaint must be sent within four weeks after you have been informed of your grade. Read the Ministrys complaint guidelines here.
Special test conditions
If you are eligible for taking the final exam with special conditions e.g. due to dyslexia or other functional impairments, please tick the box “I want to take the exam under special conditions”. Afterwards you must send documentation to the specific language centre where you are taking the test no later than eight weeks before the written test is held. Student at A2B?
Are you a student with A2B? Please note, that the exam is free for students at A2B who hold a referral from the municipality to The Official Danish Language course. Please discuss registration for the final exam with your A2B teacher.
