FAQs about The Official Danish Language Course (The Certified Danish Education)

Q: Who is entitled to free Danish classes?

A: As an international employee or student living in Denmark, you are generally entitled to up to five years of Danish tuition for free, if you have a referral from the municipality. Your local municipality issues the referral - and you must have a referral from the municipality before you start the course. Our coordinator or your local A2B language center can help you in the process of contacting the municipality.

Q: Where can I follow the free Danish classes?

A: As an international employee or student living in Denmark, you have the right to freely choose which language school you wish to attend. The local municipality has provided a local language school, but if you want to choose another school - e.g. closer to your job or 100% online, you have that choice.

Q: Are Danish courses free?

A: Danish courses under The Official Danish Language Course (danskuddannelsen) are free if you have a referral from the municipality in which you live. You must pay a deposit of DKK 2,000, which will be returned when you pass the modules within a given time frame.

Q: How long does it take to pass the Danish education?

A: There is no fixed time frame for completing The Official Danish Language Course - it depends on your effort and progression. An Official Danish Language Course consists of up to six modules, and you must pass the test for one module to progress to the next. The module tests are to be done at the language center, and your teacher decides when you are ready to take the next module test. The final module of the course ends with a final exam (Danish Exam 1, 2, or 3), which is held in May/June and November/December each year. You and your teacher decide when you are ready to take the final exam.

Q: What do I do if I am not entitled to free Danish education and therefore cannot get a referral from the municipality?

A: If you would like to follow The Official Danish Language Course and would like to pay to participate, this is of course possible - please find out all details by contacting A2B's course coordinator by clicking on the link below.
