The Active Citizen Exam (Medborgerskabsprøven)
The Active Citizen Exam is for those who wish to apply for permanent residency. The test is held twice a year and is based on Danish culture and history, democracy, and everyday life in Denmark. To pass The Active Citizen Exam, you must correctly answer 20 out of 25 questions.
You can take the test before you apply for permanent residency. As long as you plan to submit an application for permanent residency, it is possible to register for the test.
The test is written, and no aids are allowed during it. You have 30 minutes to answer the questions. Read more about how the test is conducted and how you can register here.
The Citizenship Test (Indfødsretsprøven)
To obtain Danish citizenship, you must meet a long list of requirements, one of which is that you have passed a citizenship test, which is held twice a year. This test consists of 45 different questions, focusing on your knowledge of current events, Denmark's history, and Danish society, culture, and values. To pass The Citizenship Test, you must answer 36 out of 45 questions correctly.
The test is exclusively written, and the use of aids is not permitted. You have a total of 45 minutes to answer all the questions. Read more about how the test is conducted and how you can register right here.
